C.O.P.E. is the Federation's Committee on Political Education which solicits public support and lobbies public officials for policies favorable to education. It also works to elect candidates to the Ventura County Community College Board of Trustees who are committed to sound educational values and who are sensitive to faculty concerns (contributions to C.O.P.E. are not deductible as chsritable contributions or federal income tax purposes.

Acceptance of Terms
I hereby request and voluntarily accept membership in the AFT Local 1828 and I agree to abide by its Contitution and Bylaws. I authorize the AFT Local 1828 to act as my exclusive representative in collective bargaining over wages, benefts, and other terms and conditions of employment with my employer.
Authorization to Deduct Dues
I hereby authorize the Ventura County Community College District to withhold from my warrant the constitutional monthly dues of the Ventura County Federation of College Teachers, AFT, Local 1828. I understand this authorization will remain in effect until further notice unless changed or terminated by me on thirty days' notice to the District Payroll Office and the Ventura County Federation of College Teachers, AFT, Local 1828.

I hereby authorize the Ventura County Community College District to withhold from my warrant the the sum indicated below per pay period and forward to the AFT Local 1828 Committee on Political Education. This authorization is signed freely and voluntarily and not out of any fear of reprisal, and I will not be favored or disadvantaged because I exercise this right. I understand this money will be used by AFT/COPE to make political contributions. AFT/COPE may engage in joint fundraising efforts with the AFL-CIO. This voluntary authorization may be revoked at any time by notifying the AFT Local in writing of the desire to do so. Contributions or gifts to AFT/COPE are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
