VCCCD POWER OUTAGE MESSAGE
Following the District’s recent announcement regarding the red flag warning for high winds across Ventura County, which may cause power outages and disrupt college and district operations, I encourage everyone to review the MOU Between VCCCD and AFT Local 1828 Regarding Campus Closures Due to Temporary Emergency Conditions, dated December 11, 2025.

The MOU addresses emergency conditions, including severe winds and storms, wildfires, poor air quality, and power outages, that may affect campus safety and operations. Please review the provisions regarding emergency notifications, power outages, campus closures, and faculty working conditions, particularly Sections 3, 6, 7, 9, and 14.
As of the District’s latest communication, all colleges and the District Administrative Center remain open, with classes and services operating as scheduled. No closures have been announced at this time.
The District plans to provide its next update by 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, or sooner if conditions change. AFT 1828 will continue monitoring developments and communicating information relevant to faculty working conditions.
