Fight for Affordability

Working people are being crushed by soaring costs. Housing, healthcare, childcare, college, even the cost of keeping up with credit cards or medical bills—it’s all going up and making it harder and harder for Americans to get by. And our members are not immune; they’re feeling this pressure too. One missed payment or bill could have lasting effects on your credit score and your financial future.

That’s why AFT's newest Fight for Affordability video series goes deep on credit reporting. In four short episodes, they cover:

  • The difference between your credit score and credit report.

  • How to spot errors, dispute them and freeze your credit.

  • The truth about old debt and “zombie debt” collectors.

  • How credit checks reach into housing, jobs and insurance.

As part of the AFT’s Fight for Affordability, they've have partnered with Share My Lesson to create the AFT Life Literacies video series where we address the most prevalent types of debt.

Your credit doesn’t just affect loans. It can shape your housing, job offers, even your insurance—and most people don’t realize who’s looking or when they have the right to say no.

Your financial history shouldn’t quietly decide your future. The AFT is here to help you take it back.
