What Does a Strike Look Like?
- You do not show up to work. Period.
- No email
- No meetings with students
- No teaching students
- No distance learning
- No counselling
- You are not paid during a strike. Period.
- We would need to organize protest activities and media campaigns to put pressure on the board of trustees to agree to our contract demands. This continues until a settlement is reached.
- If you call in sick you are not on strike.
- You do not earn California State Teachers’ Retirement Service credit while on strike.
- The Union strike fund can only offer partial compensation for lost wages to qualifying faculty. Criteria are currently under development by the strike fund committee.
- Strikes are more likely to be successful when there is 100 percent participation.
