Susan Kinkella
Thank you for the opportunity to run for the position of Secretary for the AFT 1828. Since 2004, I have been a full-time faculty member in the History Department at Moorpark College where I teach American Women’s History and Native American History. I love teaching and believe sharing the stories of incredible Americans who fought for social justice is a great responsibility and a privilege. Every positive change in the United States began with individuals who believed they had the power to make change despite the obstacles that stood in the way.
My interest in becoming a member of the AFT 1828 Executive Council comes from my appreciation for the significance of the work this body does and my desire to serve on behalf of faculty for positive change. Now more than ever, faculty need strong representation to protect the integrity of our profession and to advocate for fair and appropriate compensation. I will be such a representative should I have the honor to serve on the Executive Council.
