The Federation is an affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, the California Federation of Teachers, the California Labor Federation and the AFL-CIO.  The American Federation of Teachers was founded in 1916 and is a union of more than 1.4 million teachers, paraprofessionals and oher school-related personnel, higher education faculty and staff, government employees, healthcare workers, and early childhood educators.

The American Federation of Teachers Local 1828 is a union of professionals that champions fairness; democracy; economic opportunity; and high-quality public education, healthcare and public services for our students, their families and our communities. We are committed to advancing these principles through community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining and political activism, and especially through the work our members do.
