Open Enrollment Information - Part -Time
NOTE: This inforation applies only to those part-time faculty who are eligible to participate in the district health benefits plan.
Dear Benefit Eligible Employees,
The VCCCD Benefits Team is pleased to announce that the CalPERS Medical Plan Open Enrollment has begun! In order to ensure that we assist you in the best way possible, please read through the following information, and see the “WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?” section towards the end of this email.
You meet the District requirements for enrollment in the CalPERS Medical Plan Open Enrollment. Under Section 4.3.B (2), enrollment in this plan is limited to 81 non-contract faculty members. If the number of employees requesting enrollment in the plan exceeds this limit, coverage for the plan will be provided to those faculty members previously enrolled, and then to new enrollees based on longevity.
The District will contribute $308.00 per month towards the premium of the selected option and the balance of the premium will be paid by the employee. Premium payments will be made tenthly. Your monthly premium is due on your payday each month. If your premium is not deducted from your paycheck, and you have not remitted payment (personal check or credit card) to VCCCD Accounting Department at 761 E. Daily Drive, Suite 200, Camarillo CA 93010, by the fifth day of the following month your health plan will terminate.
Under Section 4.3.B (1) (d), you and any of your eligible family members may not be enrolled in any other medical plan.
If you are enrolling dependents, please submit photocopies of documentation (i.e.: marriage license/domestic partnership registration; birth certificates for children) no later than Friday, July 10, 2020.

Open Enrollment for the CalPERS medical plans in NOW OPEN, AND WILL END ON FRIDAY, JULY 10, 2020. Please review the following points as you prepare to make your medical plan choices:

Once you have viewed the video, please be sure to attend one of the four virtual CalPERS Health Fairs to obtain additional information about your new medical plan options. At these health fairs, CalPERS representatives will provide you with information about the available plans. Insurance plan providers will be present at the Health Fairs so that you can ask specific questions about your healthcare choices. Please note that if you are unable to attend one of the virtual CalPERS Health Fairs, we will be posting them to the HR website shortly after they conclude.
If you still have questions regarding your benefit options, please note that we are offering six Q&A sessions regarding the plans. These Q&A sessions will be hosted by your VCCCD HR Benefits Team. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Please click here to access the form. Any employee premium contributions will be deducted from your paycheck starting September 2020 on an after‑tax basis unless you elect otherwise.
Finally, please be advised that the current Anthem and Kaiser medical plans will terminate as of 8/31/2020. Health plans DO NOT ROLL OVER. You MUST SELECT A CalPERS plan by July 10, 2020 to avoid a lapse in coverage. Employees will receive termination letters from Anthem and Kaiser regarding this termination date.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

- Complete the attached enrollment form and submit to the VCCCD Benefits Department by 7/10/2020. Any forms submitted through US Mail must be postmarked no later than July 10, 2020.
- If you elect to have premiums deducted on a pre-tax basis, you must submit a new salary reduction agreement no later than Friday, July 10, 2020.
