Updates on Negotiations and Fact-finding
The unexpected development of the global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the economic landscape for the country, including Ventura county. Millions of people have lost their jobs and health insurance.
The AFT Local 1828 Negotiations team initially began preparing for contract negotiations over 18 months ago. We have been in face-to-face contract negotiations with district management since March 1, 2019. The district declared impasse in November, 2019 and we are currently at the last step (fact-finding) of negotiations before the district can legally impose their last offer. Fact-finding is scheduled for the week of May 20, 2020.
Because of these recent unexpected changes we have pulled together our updates and information into one central location to assist the faculty in helping guide the negotiating team as we move into fact-finding. Please review the below information, and if you still have questions please email Steve Hall, the Chief Negotiator for the AFT Local 1828
